Snoop Dogg and animator-director Tristan Zammit, known as Tristious, released an animated video for “Lodi Dodi” on Nov. 5, Complex reported the following day. The outlet describes Snoop performing in a studio while a television in the scene shows a cartoon version of him. Apple Music’s U.S. music-video catalog lists the official clip under Snoop’s name.
A new visual for a 1993 track
The track appeared on Snoop’s 1993 debut, Doggystyle. Complex traces “Lodi Dodi” to Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick’s 1985 “La Di Da Di,” which the Snoop recording pays homage to. The new visuals give that connection a fresh screen treatment without changing the song’s place in his catalog.
Complex notes that Zammit’s animation credits include XXXTENTACION’s “BAD!” and Juice WRLD’s “Righteous.” The clip pairs that animation work with Snoop’s in-studio performance, putting a cartoon double inside a video for a song whose lineage reaches back to 1985.
