JayaHadADream pairs “Dive Not Dip” with a COLORS interview
The Jamaican-Irish rapper discusses voice and self-expression alongside her September performance.
JayaHadADream brought “Dive Not Dip” to COLORS on September 10, a day after the platform released an interview with her. The Jamaican-Irish rapper discusses freedom in her voice, navigating music as a woman and using songs for therapy and self-expression.
Two ways into the same artist
That conversation follows an earlier live breakthrough. Glastonbury named the Cambridge-born rapper its 2024 Emerging Talent Competition winner after the final at Pilton Working Men’s Club. The prize included a main-stage slot and £5,000 in development funding from the PRS Foundation.
The September session also arrived ahead of her billing at TONES of London. COLORS and Metropolis Music’s September 12 OUTERNET LIVE event advertised JayaHadADream alongside M Huncho, Bawo, Sparklmami, Murphy and Saint Demarcus.
In its interview description, COLORS highlights her interest in challenging expectations and breaking down barriers. The two releases put that conversation beside a new song in the same week, with a London live date immediately ahead. “Dive Not Dip” is the performance; the accompanying interview gives her space to speak about what she wants her voice to do.
