Swae Lee says he has 50,000 unreleased songs parked
The SAME DIFFERENCE rapper says he wants listeners to hear his vault while he is still here.
Swae Lee estimated his unreleased catalog at 50,000 tracks in SPIN’s September 29 cover interview. The conversation followed the release of his solo debut, SAME DIFFERENCE.
A vault built one session at a time
The number is a snapshot of a recording habit built around speed: SPIN reports that, during the pandemic, Swae sometimes made around 10 songs in a day. Fan accounts had also tracked snippets from his Snapchat posts and assigned titles to unreleased songs, turning the vault into a kind of unofficial parallel discography.
Swae says he wants to release that music during his lifetime instead of leaving it for posthumous albums. He did not give a release schedule for the vault.
SAME DIFFERENCE pairs Swae’s melodic approach with guests including Jhené Aiko, French Montana and Slim Jxmmi. ‘MURAL,’ his collaboration with Aiko, is the official video in the player.
