Drake used the second night of his 40th-birthday weekend in New York to thank Bow Wow for shaping how he understood stardom. Complex reports that Drake recalled watching Bow Wow on 106 & Park from his mother’s basement and learning from his songs and music videos.
Bow Wow followed the tribute with a performance of “Like You”
“It wouldn’t be no Drake without Bow Wow,” he told the room, according to Complex. Bow Wow returned the appreciation, saying Drake was the only person he would perform for at the last minute; he then sang “Like You.”
The tribute builds on a relationship the pair have acknowledged publicly before. Complex notes Drake thanked Bow Wow at a 2021 dinner and called him someone he wanted to be like while sharing a stage in Atlanta in 2023.
