Chris Brown received an eight-month prison sentence at Southwark Crown Court on October 26, but the term was suspended for 12 months. He will not serve immediate time in custody, according to the Associated Press and The Guardian’s report from court.
The October 26 ruling follows Brown’s guilty plea earlier this year
Brown pleaded guilty in July to one count of affray over a February 19, 2023 incident at Tape London in Mayfair. The Crown Prosecution Service said its case was that Brown struck a man with a glass bottle; vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu also pleaded guilty to affray.
Prosecutors dropped Brown’s remaining charges after the plea, the Associated Press reported. The Guardian reported that Akinlolu received a four-month prison term, also suspended for 12 months.
Brown’s lawyer told the court that he had apologized to people who were present during the incident, according to the Associated Press. The report also said the judge considered Brown’s guilty plea, stable employment and charity work when setting the sentence.
