Chance the Rapper has won a ruling against former manager Pat Corcoran over the merchandise side of their business relationship. In a 28-page order dated October 13, Cook County Judge James E. Hanlon Jr. found Corcoran liable on a fiduciary-duty claim tied to merch, Rolling Stone reported two days later.

The amount is not final

The order requires Corcoran to forfeit a 15% merch-management fee and hand over certain commissions paid by merchandise vendors. The final total has not been set. Chance’s team estimates the fees could reach $1.5 million before vendor payments, but that is its estimate, not a sum the judge awarded.

The judge declined to award punitive damages or strip Corcoran of all compensation, and allowed him to keep investments unrelated to the merch duties. Corcoran’s spokesperson disputed Chance’s damages claim, saying he did valuable work and that Chance still has to prove harm within the narrower merchandise ruling. The next step is calculating what, if anything, is owed under that order.
