Armand Hammer bring Kenny Segal and solo cuts to Tiny Desk
ELUCID and billy woods share a six-song set with Human Error Club and Ryan Crosby.
Armand Hammer’s Tiny Desk gives ELUCID and billy woods room to step apart before ending together. NPR published the six-song concert July 28, with Kenny Segal directing a band that includes Human Error Club and guitarist and bassist Ryan Crosby.
A duo with room for both catalogs
“Laraaji” and “Super Nintendo” open. woods follows with “Spongebob,” ELUCID takes “Spelling,” and woods returns for “Dislocated.” The closer, “Stonefruit,” brings the duo back to a shared song after that run through their separate catalogs.
Segal plays keys, sampler and Omnichord. Human Error Club’s Diego Gaeta, Jesse Justice and Mekala Session contribute keys and drums. NPR’s Lars Gotrich describes the arrangements as holding onto the tension of the recordings, pointing to the fuzz on “Laraaji” and the game-like electronic melodies in “Super Nintendo.”
The appearance arrived ahead of a fall North American tour announced by the duo’s publicist, following Mercy, their 2025 album with The Alchemist. The Tiny Desk selection reaches further through their work: a group set with substantial stretches given to the individual rappers who make it.
