Spotify has launched a native infotainment app in Audi cars, putting its playback interface on the vehicle’s center display instead of requiring drivers to connect a phone first. Spotify says both Free and Premium accounts can use the app, which debuted Oct. 21 as the company’s first automaker integration of this kind.

The Audi Application Store rollout covers the A6 e-tron, Q6 e-tron, A5, Q5 and A6. Q7 and Q9 models are slated to follow at their market launches. Availability varies by vehicle and market, and some cars may need an active Audi connect plan.

The dashboard version supports voice controls and a simplified interface while the car is moving. Spotify says video and lyrics appear on the center screen only when parked. In supported cars with a passenger display, passengers can scan a QR code to join a listening Jam.

Spotify says it plans to bring similar integrations to more automakers over the next year. For now, access depends on having a supported Audi model and market; the announcement does not make the app a universal feature across the brand’s lineup.
