Soulja Boy used a Saturday Instagram post to float a possible 2028 presidential run, Complex reported. The Oct. 10 graphic says “SOULJA BOY 2028” and names economic opportunity, criminal-justice reform, education, and technology and AI as priorities.
Four broad priorities, no campaign launch
In the accompanying text, he says he is exploring what it could mean to move from music, business, and technology into public service. Complex notes that the post stops short of a formal campaign declaration and offers no detailed policy proposals beyond those four themes.
He has brushed up against presidential jokes before. Saturday Night Live turned his viral 2019 Breakfast Club interview into a candidate parody, and he performed at the Crypto Ball during Donald Trump’s January 2025 inauguration events. Complex reported that he later brushed off criticism by saying he was paid well.
There is serious legal context alongside the tease. In 2025, a California civil jury found DeAndre Way liable for sexual battery, assault, and related claims brought by a former assistant, awarding her $4.25 million. The Associated Press reported that Way maintained his innocence and that his attorney said the evidence did not support the verdict and he intended to pursue post-trial remedies.
Complex reported in June 2026 that the plaintiff had filed a notice seeking to sell Way’s BMI royalty rights toward the judgment. Complex’s June report said he had maintained his innocence after the verdict and planned to appeal. His Oct. 10 post did not address the case or announce a formal campaign or detailed policy platform.
