Lizzo had a plan: get Saucy Santana into Kai Cenat’s Streamer University and have him perform in a classroom. Santana told The FADER that they met on a road outside the Arkansas school, then Lizzo distracted security while getting their car onto the grounds. Security eventually found them. His account makes the school setting in the “Quiet on the Creek” video a lot less random.

From a campus detour to Creek University

Santana said he wanted to recreate that visit for the video’s Creek University. The song had its own winding route there. Its title came from an older Instagram Live with Yung Miami, when a conversation about eating fish led him to recall a quiet fishing trip. Someone reposted the clip to TikTok in early July.

Producer Tre Trax encouraged Santana to turn the phrase into a full song. He livestreamed the recording process and told The FADER that its official TikTok sound drew 200,000 creations on the first day, before the song was out. The single arrived July 17.
