Lil Nas X returns to Atlanta for “World’s Greatest!”
His new single is dedicated to his late mother, with a Phillip Youmans video connecting his childhood and present life.
Lil Nas X returns with “World’s Greatest!”, a new Columbia Records single dedicated to his late mother, Tamikia Hill. It brings him back into release mode after a gap dating to March 2025. The accompanying video was filmed in his hometown of Atlanta and directed by Phillip Youmans.
A hometown video and a family dedication
He introduced the song with a voicemail from his mother encouraging him to keep going and trust that things would work out. That message gives the release a family connection before the video begins looking back at his childhood and the life he’s built since.
Lil Nas X wrote the song himself, with production from C.WRAY and Steve Rusch. Aaron Kingsley Adetola plays young Montero in the video, and Youmans handled both directing and editing. Memories of childhood sit alongside present-day scenes, putting the two versions of Montero in conversation.
The hometown setting and dedication make this a personal return. Columbia’s announcement describes the song as moving through uncertainty before arriving at a sense of self-belief. “World’s Greatest!” is available now, with the Atlanta-shot video on his official channel.
