The Latin Recording Academy named Santiago Serna, director of the Coro de Niños Cantores de Córdoba in Argentina, its 2026 Latin Music Educator Award recipient. Serna is set to be recognized at the Special Awards Presentation in Las Vegas on November 9 during Latin GRAMMY Week, the Academy announced October 29.

The award pairs recognition with resources for a youth music program

Serna’s music program will receive a $10,000 donation in instruments, and he will travel to the presentation as a guest. He teaches at ISEAM Domingo Zipoli, a public music institution in Córdoba with more than 65 years of history, and has spent over a decade training children and young people through choir.

The Academy describes a practice that blends chords, progressions, harmony and composition with body percussion, voice as an instrument and group vocal improvisation. It named Thais Bezerra of Brazil and Joseph Díaz of Colombia as runners-up; both will receive special certificates.
