HA*ASH joined the Latin GRAMMY En Las Escuelas program at Christel House México in Mexico City on October 15. The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation donated instruments to the school, and the duo answered student questions in a session moderated by entertainment journalist Adriana Flores Zurita. HA*ASH and the school’s band also performed, according to the Academy.
A school visit with a music-program payoff
The program connects music students ages 5 to 18 with working Latin music professionals through mentoring and supports school music departments with limited resources. The Academy said Christel House’s music program and its students’ commitment helped the school earn this edition; Fundación del Dr. Simi presented the event.
That made the visit more than a concert stop: instruments went to the school, and students had time to talk with artists about their work. Christel House México’s wider model also includes health, nutrition and family support, putting the music program inside a broader approach to education.
