Fat Joe brings Remy Ma and Jadakiss into a 10-song Tiny Desk
The NPR Music performance threads longtime collaborators through a career-spanning set, with newer album material in the mix.
Fat Joe’s newest Tiny Desk is arranged around the people who have been part of his catalog. NPR Music published the ten-song set on November 5, five years after his earlier Tiny Desk (Home) performance. Remy Ma, Jadakiss, Stove God Cooks, Stevie Mackey and Dre of Cool & Dre join across the run, while Zo Harris leads the band as music director and plays keys.
The guest list is woven into the set
Remy is credited on “Cocababy,” “Lean Back” and “All the Way Up”; Jadakiss appears on “New York” and “The Aroma,” where Stove God Cooks joins them with Remy. Those credits put the guests in the tracklist repeatedly instead of reserving every appearance for one finale. That is the set’s clearest organizing idea: collaborators are part of how the songs move, not just a roll call.
The other turns are just as deliberate. NPR’s published sequence opens with “Million Dollar Intro” featuring Stevie Mackey, reaches through “(Ha Ha) Slow Down” and “I Shot Ya,” and finishes with “All the Way Up.” NPR describes the performance as career-spanning, with songs from Joe’s latest album, Organized Rhyme; the list pairs newer material with records that already have their own guest histories.
That distinction matters at a tiny desk: a catalog built with features can resemble a guest list on paper. Here, the sequence gives collaborators room to inhabit the songs together, with a live band filling out the frame. The credits also name Ricky “Strings” Ramos on guitar, Keithan Foster on bass, Antwan “Amadeaus” Thompson on drums and Ted Smooth on DJ—enough personnel to make the session a compact show, not a stripped-down playlist.
