fakemink didn’t respond to criticism of his Coachella and Rolling Loud performances with a promise to play it safer. On May 13, the British rapper posted a 605-word statement defending the choices behind his sets. The FADER published the full text alongside its report.

A response that doubles down

He argues that the movements, tension and uncomfortable moments are intentional, and that some listeners mistake unfamiliar art for failed entertainment. The statement keeps returning to forgiveness while making clear he isn’t asking critics for approval. One line sums up the posture: “I’ve made peace with the fact that some minds are decorative.”

That’s his assessment of the response, not proof that every performance choice worked. What the statement does establish is how strongly he stood behind it.
