Druski says appearing in Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” video changed how brands treated him. Speaking to Steven Bartlett on The Diary Of A CEO on September 24, he recalled moving beyond free merchandise as companies started viewing him as a star.

From free merch to his own production budget

The cameo put him alongside Drake, Lil Durk, Marshawn Lynch and Kevin Durant. In REVOLT’s account of the interview, Druski describes that visibility as a turning point in the opportunities coming his way. The funny man in the video was becoming a business proposition.

Getting attention didn’t mean every company wanted his shows. Druski says Netflix, Amazon and FX rejected pitches over several years. He eventually put his own money into producing the ideas for YouTube instead of spending it on another car, house or jewelry.

He says companies now want to buy those shows and develop more. Coulda Been Records wasn’t simply waiting for permission to exist.
