Charlamagne tells EJ Johnson Rihanna is above the shade
On The Brilliant Idiots, he backs Rihanna after EJ’s fashion-week complaint and jokes about the celebrity pecking order.
Charlamagne has drawn his line in the EJ Johnson–Rihanna exchange. As Complex reported on Oct. 11, he is firmly in Rihanna’s corner.
Rihanna gets the royal treatment
On The Brilliant Idiots with Andrew Schulz, he says he loves Johnson, then warns him that some stars are beyond his reach. “There’s levels to this queen shit,” is his verdict. Rihanna, in his telling, sits on a throne Johnson shouldn’t throw rocks at.
The segment turns to Johnson’s complaint that Rihanna arrived late to a fashion show. In the clip discussed by the hosts, Johnson says he didn’t want to wait but still thought the show was beautiful. Charlamagne counters that the party begins when Rihanna arrives. Punctuality has lost this round to star power.
They also discuss Rihanna’s brief comment under footage of Johnson outside a Paris hotel. Charlamagne keeps praising Johnson’s style while insisting he can’t outshine every queen. His version of keeping the peace comes with a ranking.
The official episode uploaded on Oct. 10 is below; the EJ Johnson and Rihanna section begins at 12:20.
